MJ Rooney was engaged to construct a substantial basement in Blackheath, Southeast London, for a developer building two luxury homes. The project began with the installation of CFA piling to form the basement perimeter, followed by the creation of a ground beam. Excavation then proceeded to establish the expansive basement space, ensuring solid foundations.
A comprehensive drainage system was installed to manage water effectively. The basement was constructed with a concrete in-situ slab and walls, featuring internal cavity drainage waterproofing to guarantee effective moisture control. Designed to include a bedroom and a bright kitchen, the new basement also boasts a lightwell courtyard that significantly enhances natural light.
